Acting 101

An 8-module course that will teach you how to act. We will learn how the stage differs from on camera, which differs from voiceover. However all of them have similarities. Our first question is "What is acting"? And the answer is very simple and very complicated, at the same time. Acting is BEING. It's accessing true emotions at the time of the performance based on your own experiences. This course will break down performance skills including: Breath, support, voice, body, observation, imitation, subtext, honesty, rehearsal and performance. This course will include live meet ups, a one-hour feedback session with one of SVA's theatre teachers and a live performance that is not mandatory but highly suggested. For those who are introverted this performance can be taped and sent in with or without a camera. We are aware of the challenges for many people around performing on stage in front of an audience. make this as easy as possible for you to lean acting, without that pressure or fear.

Singing 101

This 8-module course will walk you through learning to warm up, breathing, vocal singing exercises, choosing songs, finding the storytelling/acting in the song, expression, performance technique and long-term vocal health. Students will learn how their unique vocal instrument works, how to keep it healthy, how to sing with a group or as a soloist. We will also cover best audition techniques and how to sing with and without a microphone.
